I'll check Winn Dixie and Food Lion BOGO Deals this week too and post what I buy...as always, I want to thank Jenny at Southern Savers for her awesome website and lists of deals ! I use this list as my weekly worksheet to put together deals and print and clip coupons.

A Happy/Sad Week...

Hi, I haven't posted for awhile because I was out of town for a week on Nonna Duty watching my grandkids...just got home last night, went to the Dr, today and I have the regular flu, so bed rest, meds and lots of liquids are the RX for at least 4 more days ( I've been feeling sick and headachy since Tuesday)...my Dad has been fighting terminal cancer and liver disease for 3 years and died peacefully yesterday morning in Hospice care...he fought so hard to stay alive...I am so grateful to my dear brother, who cared for Daddy so lovingly and well. I am convinced that is why he lived nearly 2 years beyond his prognosis...LOVE and a will of iron ! Say a prayer for our family and especially my Mom. They were married for over 58 years and it will be tough going for her for quite awhile !
Love,
Nonna

Quick Chicken Divan

I usually don't post recipes here however, I'm using ingredients I bought with coupons so it fits... a new blog buddy, Grace asked for it so here it is:
Mix lemon juice, mayonnaise and cream of chicken soup together...
Fresh chicken breasts slowly braised and cooked covered in a little water and dash of salt...

Chocolate Mousse I made early in the day for dessert...Just Jello pudding and cool whip !

Pre - cooked Broccoli and chicken cubed and layered in baking dish...
Mixture of soup, mayo and lemon juice spread evenly, topped with cheedar cheese...
Buttered bread crumbs and more cheese on top...I love melted cheese !
My free can of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls from last weeks deals...Bingo...a nice little dinner !

My friend has the flu along with a lot of other people at church so I made this little dinner for her darling little family of 4 ...it is easy and so good ! Thanks Pillsbury... Cooking and baking are 2 of my favorite things to do, besides couponing and saving LOL

Quick Chicken Divan

1- 1 lb. frozen cut broccoli
2 cups cubed COOKED chicken breasts
1 - 10 3/4-oz. can condensed cream of chicken soup
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tsp. lemon juice
2 ozs. shredded cheedar cheese (1/2 cup)
1/2 cup soft bread crumbs
3 TBSP. butter, melted

1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 12X8 inch baking dish. Cook broccoli as directed on package; drain.

2. Arrange broccoli in greased baking dish. Layer chicken over broccoli. In a small bowl, combine soup, mayonnaise and lemon: Spread over chicken; sprinkle with cheese.

3. In small bowl, combine bread crumbs and butter; sprinkle over top. Sprinkle more cheese on if desired. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 - 35 minutes or until thoroughly heated.

I'm glad I am able to do service for my friend who we visit each month, cook and bake good dishes ...keeps my creative juices flowing, the whole house smells delicious and makes me so happy !

And welcome to Grace, Bri and Debbie !

BTW,
Food is always good...hope you are stocking up on long term foods that your family will eat and enjoy...I might need to get a couple of new storage shelves soon ! I feel so much more secure now, especially in these difficult times...having money is great but you can't eat it...I have put our hard earned money where it can sustain us and our family for a long time !
I bought the chicken, soup, mayonnaise, cheese, broccoli and crescent rolls all with coupons for cents on the dollar ! Priceless

Soup Deal How to

4 cans of soup... 4 coupons...

This morning I needed some ingredients for Chicken Divan so I spent about 5 minutes with my Walgreens Weekly Deal flyer, cut 2 store coupons for the soup and then printed 2 Internet Printable coupons for a deal for Campbells Cream of Chicken soups...

This is called a Scenario:

Buy 4 cans Campbells Cream of Chicken Soup @ $1.59 each =
$6.36 total
- $3.18 from 2 Buy One Get one Free (BOGO) Walgreens store coupons
- $2.00 from 2 internet printable coupons @ $1.00 off 2 cans

You STACK the store coupons with the manufacturers coupons and Bingo...

Total OOP: $1.18 or less than 30 cents per can !

Want to do this deal, which ends on Oct. 17, 2009 ? Get 2 Walgreens Weekly deal flyers from the Sunday paper or inside on the stand in the store, clip those coupons out and then go Here to Print 2 internet printable (IP's) coupons. You must use an email address to get them but I have a junk mail account that I use for just that purpose. Then you don't get your regular email account jammed up with spam !

Always give your store coupons first, then printable ones or manufacturer coupons next....

BTW
, if you have more than one printer/computer at your house or a nice friend who will print for you, you can do this deal many times and add to your stockpile to boot !

Soups for My Stockpile...

My Hubs and I had a great time out shopping today at Walgreens...which has high prices on food in general...but I like a sale that even beats Walmart !

32 cans Campbells Soups ( Tomato & Chicken Noodle ) regular price 3 cans for $4.00

16 store coupons sale 2 cans @ $1.00
Coupons: 8 Manufacturer coupons buy 4 cans save 40 cents
OOP: $12.30

38 cents per can...and enough to last us all winter ! I make a lot of homemade soups but it's nice to have it here for those days when you don't feel like cooking...just add nice sandwich on the side and you're good to go !

BTW,
It pays to be honest...I knew after coupons my total per 4 can order should be $1.60. The manager of the store checked me out and the total was $1.10. I said it should be $1.60 and he said "Thanks, I'd just take that total if I were you" So Bingo...I saved an extra 50 cents. Every cent counts to a couponer and it doesn't take much to make us smile either !

Couponing 101

Every store has their own coupon policy. Even then, sometimes individual stores don't follow their corporate policies and as you get better at couponing, you will know which stores to avoid and also which cashiers/managers. On the sidebar of this blog I have phone numbers and email addresses for stores you can contact to get their coupon policies.

Some will let you stack competitor coupons with manufacturer coupons or their own store coupons with manufacturer coupons. Doubling/tripling coupons is awesome but no stores here do it except occasionally Kmart. They will give you the value doubled up to the price of the item, with no overage to apply to other items in your order but other stores do give overage.

When a coupon says DO NOT Double or Triple it means just that. The coupons you use at stores are reimbursed back to the stores for face value plus 8 cents by the manufacturers. The stores don't lose a cent, but make money and clear off their shelves to boot ! That's why the manufacturers print DO NOT Double or Triple...so the stores won't...and couponers should not expect them to either !Doubling is say face value of the coupon is 50 cents, the store doubles it to $1.00. Usually this is done automatically by the register but pay very close attention to every coupon you give a cashier so you will get credit for it. Sometimes they have to do it manually too.

Confused ??? I sure was when I started in April 2008 ! I would suggest finding a friend or relative in your area who also does couponing and team up. That's what I did...my friend Cory has helped me so much and is so awesome... well, two heads are always better than one ! Mostly hers LOL

I am doing this post because I don't know everything there is to know about couponing and my wonderful, longtime blog buddy Lissaloo asked some good questions in a recent comment.

Below are some links to a lot of good information about the in's and out's of the coupon world...Couponing 101 tutorials that these bloggers have posted that are very good !
Check out these blogs sidebars or top of the blogs tabs to know which stores they cover and weekly deals they post... Check back here again...I'll keep adding to this list too and then put it on my sidebar... Hope this gives you a good start Lissaloo !
